Torx BitĮxternal Torx sockets are used for six-pointed star Torx-style fasteners, and Torx bits are specifically designed for use with Torx screws, which have a six-pointed star- shape impression and may have a raised security pin that requires a security Torx bit. Metric sockets include all the same socket types as SAE sockets. These sockets use millimeters and are great for working on imported cars that may have bolts that correspond better to a metric socket than an imperial socket. Metric sockets are the same as SAE sockets in that they are not a type of socket so much as they are grouped by a measurement system. This applies to regular sockets, impact sockets, pass-through sockets, and spark plug sockets, among others. SAE measurements can sometimes be found alongside metric measurements where the two coincide. SAE sockets are simply a description of a sizing system. This is because SAE socket sizes are based on the imperial system of measurement, including inches and fractions. SAE sockets are primarily used for work on American-made products. Common socket types include SAE, metric, Torx bit, impact, driver, pass-through, and spark plug. Otherwise, you may get a set that doesn’t have what you need. It is important to know the type of socket you need for your project before purchasing a socket set.

Or, there are also specialty sets, like a spark plug socket set. The best socket set for DIYers and professionals would include a wide variety of sockets-both in size and purpose. You can also find combination wrenches, which have one open wrench end, like a traditional wrench, and one socket end that can be equipped with sockets. They come in a variety of sizes, types, and finishes, but thankfully, they usually come in sets. One regular socket set and one deep socket.Socket wrenches allow you to tighten and loosen fasteners with a speed and ease that isn’t possible with a traditional wrench, making them essential tools for automotive or maintenance work. I think it is nice having the option of being able to have two sets in one. There is an extension for the 3/8" and 1/4" if you need to reach into deeper areas. It includes a spinner handle that is hollow most of the way up. The larger handle can be used with 3/8" and 1/4" sockets, the smaller can only be used with 1/4" sockets.
It does have an adapter (I don't know if other sets by other manufactures have this) so you can use the ratchets with regular sockets. I think that is better because the sockets might hold up longer since you don't have to make it handle different style bolts. It has both SAE (now called inch) and Metric but I don't think these claim to work with rounded or hex style bolts. When you put a socket on the ratchet, the overall height is smaller than a regular ratchet so you can get into tighter areas. They claim you don't have to turn it far before you get to the next ratchet click so that is nice for tight areas. I like the many features of this compared to a regular ratchet set. I still like to buy Craftsman for when something breaks, just like any company's product will do in time, I can easily return it to a store instead of mailing / finding a tool truck.
